One example is what Nancy Pelosi did the other day to the Columbia Free Trade Agreement.

I don't like what she did and I neither does George, but he and I understand that our balance of power system works quite well.

I disagree also with your statement that the "real power" rests with Congress. Congress holds the power of the purse. Now, maybe by some interpretations that is "real" power, but I disagree.

In addition, I think that the bully pulpit, if used properly, is as powerful a tool as anything in DC. GWB should have been more active in this regard.

That includes such departments as Defense, Justice, State

And the numerous alphabet soup agencies who every year come up with more and more ways to intrude into our lives. They're not gonna stop. Their whole reason to exist is to come up with more regulation.

DHS has already proven to be a boondoggle, with little benefit to show for it.

We need to start dismantling some of these departments and agencies. We could start with FEMA, a Jimmy Carter creation. We had a perfectly capable response to hurricanes prior to that, the Red Cross did an outstanding job.
