My sister has one of those old Mercedes. Her husband opened it up and was surprised that he was going much faster than he thought he was. They are heavy and mask the sensation of speed, I guess.

About once a year I take my car out on the Interstate and roll it up to 75 or 80 (posted speed limit is 75). I drive it some 50 miles or so, then turn around and head back home. I have no idea if this is necessary, but I've been told to do it since I started driving back in the early 50's. So I do it!
