I think it's commendable that they are charitable. I've been impressed by the work of the Gates' foundation- Bill couldn't find a better model to follow, imo.

The Clinton's also paid a sizable amount in taxes . I don't remember the exact amount but I do remember it was a high.

I had heard somewhere that they never owned a house before they bought the NY property at the end of Bill's Presidential term.

In fact I had heard their living quarters, before residency in the White House, were relatively modest compared to most Governor's homes.

If they are finally living at the level of the rich and famous after running this country for eight years, I would guess they have earned it.

Bill is so revered on a world wide level that I would think a global charity would be perfect for him to work for.

I hope that Bill can someday become the Sec. Gen. of the UN. I think that job is a natural for Bill. He'd be great at it too if his heart condition doesn't deteriorate.

This country would be lucky indeed to receive a repeat performance of the Clinton years...............even with all it's warts, I'd take in a heartbeat !

In an earlier post you suggested that I extol Obama's qualities without running down Hillary. But for Billarys to play the race card, particularly when they were least expected to do so, it becomes very difficult to take your suggestion. Maybe Bill campaigned the way he did so that he could retain the fond label of "first Black President" and not cede it to Barack Obama. The scars in the African American community towards Billarys will take a long long time to heal, surely not if Hillary becomes the nominee with the racial and other kitchen sink tactics.

At Warmdaddy's, Cooling Toward Clinton
By Krissah Williams

PHILADELPHIA -- Slow R&B music played as the after-work crowd trickled into Warmdaddy's, a South Philadelphia restaurant and jazz club where the hostess wears a square button with Sen. Barack Obama's smiling face and two Obama '08 placards hang from the window.

Support for the senator from Illinois may be in doubt in other parts of Pennsylvania, but Warmdaddy's is a stronghold for Obama supporters in a city he is expected to win in Tuesday's Democratic primary. And in recent weeks, as Sen. Hillary Clinton (N.Y.) has pushed the notion that Obama is "out of touch" with working-class voters, the goodwill the restaurant's African American clientele had for her has dropped sharply.
