No open pit mining? There goes the Corriente Copper belt.

Three concessions per company? Right.

70% windfall tax?

What have they been smoking? My my. What fools these chillun be.

With a 95 to 1 vote to cripple exploration and mining it is obvious where this one is going.

Everybody thinks like that who goes to their church. They see johnny dig up a shiny silver dollar, so they steal his metal detector, run johnny off the playground and they commence to imitate johnny. But you have to know how to operate a metal detector. So after a few days of not finding any silver dollars they go back to johnny and ask him to find silver dollars for them. Unfortunately there are far too many johnnies who will not tell them to turn the gain to F and the instrument to off.

Ecuador nationalized their mines in the 60's and they all went corrupt and broke. That is why there are so, many exploration opportunities there. No one went back in until DMM, ARU, etc after 35-40 years with no exploration. Now Ecuador wants to kill mining again? Truly amazing if that is what happens.
