Latest News: More Superdelegates To Obama, New PA Poll, ABC Debate Fallout
Posted by Ashish on 04.17.2008

Latest from the race...

- Barack Obama picked up two more superdelegates today. First, Oklahoma Superdelegate Reggie Whitten endorsed Obama today. But in what is far worse news, another Hillary Clinton superdelegate has switched to Obama. Council member and newly elected superdelegate Harry Thomas Jr. says he is now supporting Obama. He had initially supported Clinton and even though Clinton's camp is now trying to deny that they ever had his support in hopes if downplaying this story, Thomas was always included in Clinton's superdelegate count. So, the updated superdelegate count I have now is Clinton 256, Obama 231. That's the closest Obama has ever been as he continues to get the vast majority of superdelegates since February 5th. Every superdelegate that endorses Obama makes it more unlikely that Clinton can win. She now has to get roughly 75% of the remaining superdelegates to win the nomination. As I've been saying, the more negative Clinton gets, the more likely it is that she will push superdelegates to Obama.

- And Zogby has a new Pennsylvania poll showing the state as a total toss up, with Clinton at 45%, Obama at 44%. It's worth noting that Zogby has been horrible this election cycle. He predicted Obama wins in CA and OH and we saw how that turned out. So take his latest with a grain of salt. But it is worth noting that the last four PA polls have the race at a six point Clinton lead or less. If that holds true, it will be a disaster for her.

- And rightfully so, ABC is being flooded with complaints over last night's debate which was a joke and an embarassing attempt to pass off a public grilling as news. The network should be ashamed of itself for taking what will likely be the last debate between Obama and Clinton and turning it into a witch hunt.
