FYI the yield varies depending upon how modernized the refinery is and the gravity of the feedstock, but for making estimates I use this:

-- 1 barrel crude = 21 gallons of gasoline + 7 gallons of diesel

And since we're on the energy topic, I'll throw this ballpark estimator in here too:

-- 2 tons of oil sand = 1 barrel of oil

You should really ask Elroy about the distillation and crack yields -- he worked in that end of the biz and knows all that stuff backwards
