The knee jerk reaction to increase the stimulus package and the rapid reversion to ear marks is good recent evidence. The past Democratic party presidents could not run today. You can see how the primaries have dragged Hillary left - where Barack is perfectly at home. If/when Barack is president his own party will be his biggest problem.
