As far as oil is concerned we will adapt I'm sure. There will be no more 2,000 mile salads. There is a good video on google video about how Cuba survived peak oil after the fall of the Soviet Union. It made me realize that in some ways peak oil could be a blessing in disguise. People will learn to do things in a way that requires less transportation. They will get jobs closer to where they live, etc.

As far as the real estate thing, I'm starting to believe that much of this type of thing is done deliberately to shear the masses of their wealth. They've done it over and over again over the decades. I recently saw another great video called the money masters, about history and effect of central banking. Very worthwhile video, IMO.
