I am not afraid of a Democratic President and Democratic Congress, because history (as opposed to Republican propaganda) shows that fearing the combination is not justified.

So, would you please remind me, in which years of dem control of both the WH and congress did we achieve a surplus? Make a dent in the debt?

The long fall of national debt as a percent of GDP from 90% in 1950 to 35% in 1980 was achieved under almost continuous solid Democratic control of Congress and under both Republican and Democratic presidents. The reduction in the ratio was not any less when Democrats were in complete control.

The notion that solidly Democratic governments are fiscally irresponsible is a myth.
