Think back to the SC statements. The press could have spun that differently...covered for Bill and smoothed over the gaffe.

Kate, you ignore the possibility that we listened to what the Clintons said then and drew our own conclusions. The press isn't an omnipotent brainwashing machine, not to the extent that every twist and curve in a campaign can be traced back to its machinations.

Falling back on that is an easy out, when the Clinton camp should have been asking why they were losing so many primaries to the inexperienced upstart. For seasoned, veteran pols, an unwieldy press was just another challenge to overcome, surely. Or are they victims when they aren't succeeding at being heroes?

The ups and downs in the whole narrative they weave leave me dizzy, frankly.
