Well, it's just my experience. Informed is not the same as educated. Uneducated people tend to have a very narrow range of experiences and that leads to incredible bias in their decision making. Educated people have been exposed to many different ways of thinking and that broadens the mind and makes you a more critical thinker, who is less prone to brainwashing techniques. You know the Communists and Nazis used propaganda quite a bit to get people to believe what they wanted to believe. They'd basically take a lie and repeat it a million times and use the language of divisiveness to work their will. It was very effective. However, an educated, well-informed, critical thinker would see right through that kind of B.S. For example, I also received the Muslim smear email on Obama right around the time I was just starting to listen to him. But I didn't give it much credence, because I saw it for what it was. It was something a political operative was spreading around. So I believe being both educated and well-informed are absolutely critical to a healthy functioning Democracy.

I know we all want to defend the under-educated as victims of a sort and I do have sympathy for their plight, but at the same time I am somewhat repelled when I watch interviews of ignorant, uneducated people saying they think Obama gives a great speech but that they won't vote for him because he's a Muslim. Sounds like somewhere along the line they shut their brain off and just decided to recite the Hillary playbook. That isn't critical thinking. That's ill-informed, under-educated parroting.
