"save the children"

That's always the fallback excuse for passing outrageous laws. Kath Griffin does a bit about asking people for various things, and using the line, "it's for the children." Gets her what she wants every time.

The reasons you bring forward are added to the kids' situation in the first place, and are why this situation is so difficult!

Would we feel better if everyone in the compound just drank koolaid like they did in Jonestown?

Or is it like 9-11? Do we feel any better that we ignored the whole Islamofascist situation for years, and when something so terrible happens as it did on 9-11, we wonder how it happened?

The kids and their Moms should be allowed to go back to their home. The men have to stay away. If the courts feel that they need protection, let their be paid staff who live in the house.

Child placement centers should always seek out family members.
