Bob;

As I have said over and over - until we get on a path of a real plan - the energy future looks dim

That's why we need a new direction in the WH. Kid yourself not, never has the oil industry had more support in the WH than under Bush/Cheney. The Cheney energy plan was full support for the oil industry. That they didn't get everything they wanted is because of public pressures. That's reality. Reality and it's not going to change, so we better start adapting to a new paradigm.

I've read a bit about the peak oil debate, Bob, and, like almost everything else, there are several sides to it. And you can see some of those sides floating around in that NYTimes piece.

Those are the kinds of things I clip, put them in a database, and then read them later when I'm either thinking about tinkering with my investment sector allocation or arguing about energy supplies.

Bob

At night when I cannot sleep I listen to this radio program
that has all these interesting but more often than not, far out guests. Last night's guest was so far out that I had to turn him off. I have to go into the web site to find out who he is because he scared me to death.

Some of what he was saying.

Firstly we are in deep do do in this country(that is my paraphrasing..smile) and it all has to do with ENERGY.

We can expect gas prices to go to five dollars easily as the dollar is down, imports have to go to Aruba for refining and
then be shipped.

Independent truckers will stop working because they will not be able to afford the cost of gasoline..
Therefore our food will not be delivered to the super market.
We will find increasing shortages of food. There will be runs on markets when the food does arrive if it does.

There will be grid shut downs. Expect to go for months without electric power to your home. That means no air conditioning, no lights, no TV no internet.

The crime rate will be astronomical. The homeless will multiply. People will be unemployed as more and more factories shut down..

The only thing worthwhile will be tangible goods as your dollar will be worth nothing. Buy a farm, have your own well, have your own source of electricity and grow your own food.
Have goats, chickens a few pigs and live off your land.

Own a gun...

Well by this time he had me completely awake and I had to take a sleeping pill to get back to sleep..

The program was Coast to Coast and the guest was Steve Quayle.. I went to his web site and copied just a starter..
Of course I THOUGHT OF YOU. Energy, gold and tangible assets..

Overthrown - Death of America - Index

BW

Kathy couldn't believe this was happening. After all, this was America, it couldn't happen here. But it was. Before the power had become so unreliable, and sporadic, she and her husband Tim, had seen the President come on the T.V. to talk to the American people. New York, L.A., and Washington D.C. had been hit with nuclear weapons. What hadn't been wiped out by the blasts, was so contaminated by radiation that rescue operations would be delayed until the radiation had died down. But until that happened, martial law was in effect.

With most of the military engaged in the middle east, the President had an idea. One that had been on his mind for a long time. N.A.T.O. troops were already in America. Some had been stationed on active military bases. Others were kept out of sight on bases that had been closed down for years. None of them cared a bit about the Constitution. They would do as they were told, without remorse or hesitation. After all, they weren't shooting their own people. This was America. These people needed to be brought down. They had been running things all over the world for far to long. The President knew that was what they were thinking. This was his chance to take full control over the nation. The members of Congress that hadn't been killed, didn't have a place to meet. He would make sure they never did. With numerous Presidential Orders, and Presidential Decision Directives already in place, in case of something like this, of course, he had the authority to rule by decree.

It wasn't long before the members of different gangs found out that these men weren't what they were expecting. Foolishly they had assumed they would be like the cops they were used to, and could deal with. They had expected these troops to follow the law, as did the American National Guardsmen. They didn't. It was as if they made up their own laws as they went. Soon the gang bangers were starting to drop like flies, as the foreign troops opened fire on them on sight. They didn't even try to capture them. They just shot them.
