I don't. It's a pity that so many people's memories are so short, or so selective. The first intifada was only in 1987, or at least that was when I was there. It was what you might call a general strike. Even then shops would leave a door just a little bit open, with a straw in the door jam, and that meant you could go in and do your shopping if you were discrete and closed the door behind you. A few hundred targeted assassinations later and nobody wanted to sell anything to anyone who looked western. TP
