"First off, thanks to Steve Harris, we know there are recorded statements of Hitler disavowing Christianity."

Actually, we don't. As I noted elsewhere, the English translation differs from the original notes.

"You can claim if you wish that he didn't act the way you belive a real socialist should have acted. "

Ok. Gotcha. Socialism is just a meaningless label.

"Note that in the latest post you and Ted are objecting to I don't even argue the issue of whether he was legitimately a socialist or not."

Ok, I will grant that I didn't notice you had shifted your position. I thought you were still arguing that he was a socialist because he claimed to be. And, admittedly, if socialism is a meaningless label, then it doesn't make a whole lot of difference.

Not sure why you started this whole thread if that is the case. But...

Second, you're judging Hitler's socialism as false because you think he didn't live according to the label. Yet socialism has taken many forms in many countries. Who is to say which form is illegitimate and which aren't.

Because there is only one form that is real with maybe minor variations from one country to the next. Outside of that one form are the rest who claim to be socialists in order to cover up the real ideology in play.......like East Germany claiming to be a democracy when it was not.
