<<<Mr Obama was later admitted to read politics and international relations at New York's prestigious Columbia University where, his book claims, "no matter how many times the administration tried to paint them over, the walls remained scratched with blunt correspondence (about) niggers.">>>

It must have been terrible. Imagine, encountering racism for the first time in your life at the hot bed of racism at Columbia University in the 1980's. I guess he must have risen above it just like Jackie Robinson had to overcome racism with the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1940's.

I'm going to say this again, because I think it's important. I assume you're a white woman- I'm guessing Mary is too. I am white also.

I would have told you last year that there is very little racism in my area. I would have told you that the people in our community who are minorities seem happy and well treated- that we are a nice melting pot. I would, in other words, have said the same things these people are saying about Obama. Unfortunately, because I'm white, I would have been wrong.

Recently here I posted about my real estate agent- who is a black woman. I would NEVER have guessed she would have been treated the way she was, in my community- and I was only with her for a few hours. Apparently slights happen all the time. I imagine they were happening even more frequently when Obama was younger.

I think you, as a white person, need to realize that you may have very little idea of what people of color experience- and other whites (like the writers of this story) may be similarly challenged- their view of a black man's (or youth's) life, may be seen with white colored glasses.

You should drop it now. or admit you are no democrat. and you don't want a black, or anyone who has any muslim relative, elected. i hear better from rednecks in the holler then what you and mary are talking. you think obama not have experience? fine. that is my mother's concern. her only concern. she doesn't care a thing about this other ugly stuff you are spouting. only experience. but she really not like hillary. would never vote for her. doesn't much like mccain, or any man who dumps his disabled wife for a babe trophy wife in middle age, especially one who seems to have no intelligent ideas. but you are getting ugly with your talk of muslims and various things. support who you will. but drop this. please.
