Those are OLD news from June 2003. I live close by a Shell gas station. It has been around 2 years since they put up the sign "No ethanol, 100% gas" right above the pump. So this is relatively new

As for CA, yeah, looks like CA state law requires ALL gas have ethanol. FEW states have as strict law. WI does NOT have it, and as far as I know NONE of mid-West state has state requirement for ethanol like CA does

So as a gesture, Americans who really cares about poor people around the world should start to look for gas WITHOUT ethanol wherever possible

Ethanol in gasoline is a stupid idea. The heat content (read mpg) is less then gasoline so your mileage goes down and the amount of "ethanol spiked" gas you need to cover your commute goes up. Not withstanding the fact that ethanol from corn takes an incredible amount of energy (in the form of natural gas) in order to cook it. Who came up with this policy ? It would be a lot better to burn natural gas to begin with. It is a heck of a lot cleaner.
