Free trade would mean that China and Japan let products come their way. Introducing protectionism would mean fewer products that way. I think we agree on what is best, but we certainly don't agree on the vocabulary :-)

Anyway, I haven't heard much of problems selling products to China, and China now receives more than 6% of Denmark's total non-EU exports. I don't know what the figures are for other countries, but if USA has problems with exporting stuff, the reason may be, that the countries are not ready for IP-based products, or may not be ready for products that are designed for the typical American middle class family.

Try to sell software in East Europe, and you'll understand what I mean :-) It's hard to go from a situation where you just dig up potatoes from the fields of a farm that you don't own, to paying for IP.
