Bush is probably out to lunch dreaming about his daughter's wedding and his presidential library where he and his Mom can plan how to get back at all the awful people who turned on him. Republicans have been trying to kill SS from the beginning. They may have, with Medicare Part D, managed to kill Medicare or (ironically) private health insurance.

The outcome of this remains to be seen. It isn't that Republicans don't try, they try and sneak things in at the margins. They managed to get the most privatized war ever going with no end in sight. They managed to make negotiating with mega corporations illegal. They managed to give the wealthiest people huge tax breaks.

Right wing Republicans are supremely happy with the Bush administration. They are not as happy with the American public whom, Republicans feel, should just take it in the shorts time and time and time again.

They will be back attacking SS as soon as they are able.
