I think it's all about money.

Sadly, pretty much every decision our gov't makes is influenced by money.

Cultural anthropologists say that they can always tell a particular culture's values by the height of its buildings; that the tallest ones reflect that aspect which is most valued.

Those church steeples looked pretty tiny next to the Trade Towers.
