There was an Arab nationalism, though it was a weak movement exploited by the British against the Turkish empire. There wasn't a Palestinian nationalism at the time. Cheering the killing of children is pretty primitive Cheering the destruction of a nation is pretty primitive as well. Yes, the Palestinians cheer the calls to destroy Israel too, and that is primitive as you say. The Palestinians have 3 self-governing entities. One, Jordan, ruled by a family from Mecca the British brought in. The West Bank, ruled by Fatah. Gaza, ruled by Hamas. Though these latter two aren't internationally recognized as sovereingn entities, they are effectively self-governing. But its not enough. They want Israel destroyed more than they want anything for themselves.
