Yep, long physical gold (this is really insurance against bad things and not worth trading), trade paper gold/oil/ag commodities, short stocks (SRS/SKF/QID), inflation indexed bonds, long high quality stocks with intl exposure preferably with dividends is a good diversified strategy in this market and economy. Other than the trading positions, one can just sit quiet and watch the drama in amusement as it unfolds :-). Holding some real estate and foreign currencies may be OK too; however, its hard to bet which clowns which will shun the moral hazard first in their competitive dilution.
