We are not balancing the budget now and there is a wave of age related entitlements coming. How in the world do these get paid for?

With more debt. Reality bites. I find myself wanting to throw a shoe at Pollyanas who seem to think that reducing the debt is feasible if we just try. The only place to find enough money is in the entitlements and we simply can't/won't cut them in any significant way. We probably won't stop adding to them. So, end of subject, permanent impasse.

The real action will in trying to figure out how the country can continue to be winner in that scenario. Some creativity will be needed. It can't come as long as creative people still dream about reducing the debt. This is a lot like nuclear proliferation. The train has left the station. Time to adjust to the new paradigm.

Lane3 is probably correct, with more debt.

More debt isn't a positive thing, but it doesn't amount to "bankrupt".
