the anger some folks have toward israel is palpable. In engaging in self defense, Israel has used force and some folks with pacifist leanings see it as excessive. The last lebanon war certainly appears that way to them. And even some of us who support israel cringe at the use of force. US suffers the same scrutiny in our wars. All of this occurs because war is imperfect and a countries prime responsiblity is to its own people.
These folks also feel sympathy for the plight of the pal people. I do too but i recognize that much of their plight is of their own making. Not necessarily the average pal, but arab states, fatah, hamas etc.
I do like the idea of a 10 year verifiable truce that jimmy carter says he got hamas to agree too. I am skeptical. We shall see. If that happened and it doesnt result in arming hamas to the teeth during 10 years who knows what the thinking will be 10 years down the road. I remain the optimist.
