That would work too. I know rodents won't go near steel wool. And I can't imagine a woodpecker would want to mess with either one of our suggestions.

Here's a solution??? maybe???

That's the trouble with my bird... there are at least 6-7 spots where the pecking has gone well through the paint and into the siding. If I could figure out how to mix up that batch of hot stuff, then if my ladder is long enough to reach up that high, I'd give that a shot.

Just a minute ago I heard the familiar pecking. I grabbed my new bb gun, cocked it and quietly slid the door open. Peeked around the corner.... bird gone! Now they're mowing the lawn in the green belt behind me, so that'll prolly keep the bird away for the time being.

This bb gun is turning out to be a few laughs. It only shoots correctly about 1/2 the time. The other times the bb sort of rolls out the end of the barrel and goes maybe 6 feet in a big arc toward the ground. I target shot in the kitchen a few times, but I don't have it figured out. I can only get it to work if I load ONE bb at a time, not the full magazine.

Once I do figure it out, it will be fun to target shoot in the basement, into a cardboard box. The bb's are retrievable and I can reuse them. They're just plastic of some kind.
