I owe you an apology, I think.

When talking about the 25 years since Reagan, you at first suggested that perhaps conservatism hadn't been practiced. If I remember I somewhat dissed the idea, totally forgetting that it's been my complaint forever that the Bush administration is a caricature of the Grand Old Party of my youth....the party of Eisenhower and even Nixon to some extent. These two weren't budget busters and Nixon's overtures to China were commendable.

This is a simplistic statement, but perhaps it was the rise of the group we identify as neocons that derailed the party. This bunch first surfaced in the Reagan years for the most part.

At any rate, I agree. Bush is not a classical conservative. He defies labelling for me at this time.
