Currently we don't have a single payer plan either. Medicare is big but there are plenty of private players. Companies will not be without customers either foreign or domestic if they refuse to sell to Medicare. Some docs refuse to do so since they feel Medicare doesn't pay enough. That is their choice.

That's right. Looking at the debacle that is the US private health care system and looking at REALITY in the rest of the world, I am very much for single payer health care in the USA tomorrow.

I like reality. I like dealing in the real world instead of some lah-lah fantasy land built on nothing but opinions. The US health care system doesn't work. Even a majority (small but growing) of doctors are for single payer since they are sick to death of spending 1/3rd of their time battling idiot health insurance bureaucrats over payments.

Single payer may not work in 50 years but it does work today and could be implemented quickly if there is political will. The alternative is to watch people suffer and die while the entire system simply implodes.

Note also that big corporations like Starbucks are for big health care reform as well as they will not be able to afford it either in the near future. Do you really think it is rational to pay 16% (could be 20% in a few years) of our GDP to health care? Is it rational for people to be tied to a job they hate in order to get health care benefits? Is it rational to slow economic growth of small businesses for the sake of health insurance company profits?

Are you that sick? Do you know anyone that sick?
