Unfortunately cars, trucks, planes and trains do not run on solar or wind power. Those fuels will be replacing electricity, only a small amount of which is produced by burning oil.'

Actually, once we go to electric cars (someone recently posted a link to Honda's electric entry and vision), then the cars could run on wind or solar power. If, of course, what you say above also comes to pass.

Bob;

You will absolutely never find any post by me that encourages more usage of that energy resource (i.e. oil) - never Steve - do you acknowledge that?

I do not acknowledge that. If you open up all oil field exploration, no matter what the environmental cost - you are absolutely encouraging more oil use. By your own definition here applied in reverse; by increasing supply you will increase demand. If that isn't encouraging more demand, what in the heck is? ......So more demand, more pollution, more health problems and more dependence on ME oil. All for a short term bump in usage which then gives the auto companies more incentive to build more and more big oil guzzlers.
