Is there a chance someone could step in at the last moment and save us? This an old-fashioned tussle between the old politics of the gutter where the best puncher wins a slim victory, and an attempt to move in another direction. Watching the momentum weave back and forth, it's close to a tie again though Obama has the numbers on his side. If he loses now or in November, we won't be any worse off than if Hillary had run against Edwards and knocked him out early. If he manages to prevail, we have an opportunity for a new era. Which, in the worst case, would end up like what we have today.
