It is difficult for me to buy the Clinton "toughness" argument cause I spent some time in a really bad, violent public school and what is considered "tough" nowadays is so at odds with what I experienced as "tough" that it does not compute. To me "tough" means when a kid threatens you in class you immediately stab him in the head as hard as you can with a ball point pen. I will never be able to buy the "words as proof of toughness" thing, as to me "tough" words just get you stabbed in the head with a ball point pen.

Our soldiers are tough. Talk of "using" our soldiers is, to me, absolutely not tough.

By the same token I do not consider Obama to be tough, but then again he doesn't claim to be tough.
