great and yet futures are now up..does it really help to be the eternal doctor of doom which is exactly the same myopic thinking as the CNBC puppets or realtors always telling you to buy, buy, buy? Do you really think no one else sees what you or I see? Two years ago this stuff was visionary going against the widely held view of the ownership society being good and belief housing prices can never go down...now we are grasping at straws for what is next<g>

70% of tech companies reporting so far have beaten estimates (source: Bloomberg).

Medium term I'm as bearish as you. But if you ignore housing (which the bulls do), then all the recent data is exactly consistent with a short shallow downturn which is already half over.

It appears the real situation will take time to emerge and this bear market is going to be fairly drawn out.
