"Well, you might start by answering the question, Bob. You are good enough to do that. Do you think that "taxes paid to the federal government produce absolutely no benefit to both the general public and to the business sector as well."

I'll make it more explicit. Do you think that roads, bridges, subways, schools, libraries, bring no benefit. I gather the answer is, of course, they do. And we haven't yet gotten to secondary effects, such as giving people jobs, from which they pay taxes and spend money on goods, which are produced, etc."

Now John - I have repeatedly said we need to pay for the government we want. That is a position that has been repeated often and I believe clearly. You can never find anything to support your concept of me not thinking government services provide no benefit. That is a bit of a slander much like what Steve has been trying.

My point is that taxes have an impact and that smart, balanced policy needs to recognize that. Clinton balanced taxes with NAFTA and GATT. Do you recognize that?

Perhaps the concept of taxes and solar power are the same - both are seen as dogmatic answers to our problems. It is not so simple - it is very complex.
