Skype-ing with wife: Discussing U.S. economy. It started when I wrote I was surprised cell phones are being considered non-essential in the U.S.

Her friend returned from FLA. Her other friend in FLA reports: dropped price 3x and still can't sell apartment.

I told what klaser said: apt price will be eroded by inflation etc. Then discussion diverted to scaling back scaling out.

So you eat out but eat in a less expensive place and I explained the post tech bubble times when my pole-climbing m one dried up and we scaled back etc.

The she said: What I want to know is if they will still buy Halloween costumes and dump into the dustbin following day.
Most likely not, I replied.

She said something really clever:
One point this is good for the rest of the world: The US exerts a tremendous influence in other people's cultures. A scale back and a scale out in the U.S. will teach the rest of the world: waste is not intelligent.
