Kate,

What is needed is a plan that projects supply and demand trends for at least 10 years and perhaps no less than 15. Lane I believe spoke about lag time - the time necessary to turn a big ship around.

What you would have is a projected demand level and projected sources of supply. A proper plan would use currently identified resources to adjust to the long term plan - the plan that is so loved here - but one that will take time to implement.

Currently we have no plan - other than the one for the Iowa primary - ethanol. We have dreamers who think all we need to do is wake up and build wind mills and solar panels. We have dinosauers who want to drive Hummers. We have no plan - and this board shows how difficult the issue.

We cannot afford 15 mm bbl per day at =$100 per bbl.

Have you noticed the food riots around the world and the price of grains?
