How many VPs have had great qualifications in the modern era? Just thinking out loud, Agnew was a small state governor, Rockefeller was a New York governor, Mondale a senator from Minnesota, GHWB was qualified, Quayle you know, Gore another senator from the sticks, Cheney much like GHWB but with an attitude, LOL.

I don't see any great depth of presidential qualifications for the majority of those. Definite crap shoot in most of these choices.

That's a good point. Someone with more experience might be a safer bet in case of that first month coronary.

I quickly thought of him as VEEP thinking it would more solidify the party and assure a win.

In reality he's going to face severe attacks by the Rs in the fall on Rezko, Ayers, and Wright. Tonight on MSNBC I saw an ugly attack ad from the Rs on him that's about to be aired....something about his voting in IL the wrong way about imprisoning gang members. I just saw the tail end of it. So he could prove toxic on the ticket as VEEP because of these attacks that are about to come.
