At this moment in time, US Treasuries are risk free for all practical purposes.

No they aren't. The country might have to implode financially for there to be a significant risk of default, but once again default is not the only form of risk.

And you also once again ignore the point that being promised Social Security benefits does NOT equal owning treasury securities.
