The value of the dollar will perhaps be the biggest challenge facing the next administration.

quotes.ino.com

Right now there is a vicious circle - the diving value of the dollar helps drive the price of oil up. As the price of oil goes up its drives the dollar's value down because it affects the current account in a negative way.

Dollar weakness spurs oil price rises

telegraph.co.uk

"Ali al-Naimi, the Saudi oil minister, said there was no immediate shortage of oil. He told a closed session of the conference: "This is not the time to panic and grasp for exotic unproven solutions.""

Saudi's (Opec/Middle East) don't seem that sympathetic to the dollar's problems.

I wonder why?

I see the Saudi's have given Bush the one finger salute when he asked for an oil production increase.

What a maroon Bush is - really he goes and fawns all over Israel then immediately flys to Saudi Arabia to ask a favor.

The guy doesn't get it. What is the 60th anniversary for the creation of Israel is also the 60th anniversary the expulsion of the Palestinian people - a real sore spot with the Saudis and all the Arab nations in general.

Meanwhile the price of oil creeps ever higher and higher and with it the trade deficit grows and the dollar teeters.

Bush has made the country weaker and the dollar is vulnerable to the whims of the oil producing nations - including Iran and Venezuela - with his stupidity.

I suppose that’s the result you get you elect someone based on dumb crap like “swift boating” instead of ability.
