I am more afraid of reckless drivers, drive-by shooters, burglars, and thugs than I am of the U.S. government. I am afraid of what the U.S. government has been doing to the U. S.economy, however, and to the reputation of the country. I may be profiting from the drop of the dollar but I would rather it was not happening.

I am a great lover of France, but in France, if you are accused of a crime, the burden of proof is on you. You are presumed guilty. In practice, there's probably not much more injustice in France than in the U.S., and possibly less, in that a lot of people get away with a lot of bad things in the U. S. But because of their power, French officials are more likely to be very severe and unpleasant than American officials. There are many exceptions all around, but I do have a French friend who was stopped by U. S. police on suspicion of drunk driving, and he found the police to be very nice in comparison to French police.
