Bob; CAFE standards are the most obvious. Buying off old cars is another. The first is a good idea that I like, the second I would like to see how you pay for it. Pay for it with an increase on the tax on oil, and I'm all for it. Now having said that and back to your economics; if cars get better gas mileage and if you give poor people cars that get good gas mileage, you're not decreasing oil usage, you're only making it so people can drive more. You're encouraging more driving. steve
