It's just not our fight or our problem Dave. Supporting Israel is not in the national interest of the United States. Israel is completely useless as an ally, a leech country that we don't need. Israel is an albatross for us.

If Israel is to succeed, it has to do it on it's own. If it is to fail, there are plenty of countries where the rights of Jews will be protected. Israel isn't even good for the Jews.

i-node,

you have your facts wrong. Please go read up the 6 Day War on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org

Israel can defend itself just fine. In fact, despite all their disadvantages, they are the 900 lb gorilla in the region and American taxpayers make sure they remain that way.

So the question is why? I think we should be friendly with Israel and I'd go so far as to continue our mutual defense treaty with them. An attack on Israel is an attack on the US. However, why do we give them $8B a year? Why don't we just sell them arms and tech and stay out of the region? We should be spending our money on getting oil independent, so we don't have to care about those crazy Arabs and Persians. Israel is only a strategic US ally as long as we are dependent on oil. Become oil independent and they are no longer strategic.

Why is it you people are such terrorists when it comes to Israel? All they want is a place to live. The entire region was a literal wasteland before the Jews arrived there.

It was not wasteland. And even if were, it was fully occupied. The irony, of course, is that if this happened to you in Arkansas, you would be screaming bloody murder. But since its Palestinians that are getting screwed, its quite okay. In any case, one of the biggest blunders in American history was Truman giving Palestine to the Zionists.

Folks like parsons and perhaps tejek were anti-semites long before they were anti-israel. You can bet on it. Both are cheap versions of david duke trying to fool the thread with their foreign policy revisionism while denying the obvious.
With tejek, he was probably passed over for promotion at the community college for a Jew. Remember tejek was first in his class when he got his GED.
