It was barren. Dang, you are uninformed......the Palestinians were ranchers and farmers....the land was in heavy use. How do you think the Zionists duped them.........had they been sophisticated city folk, the Zionists would never have gotten away with what they did. And just for the record, there were hundreds of thousands of Palestinians living in Palestine in the late 19th century even as the first Zionists began to emigrate to Palestine.
