For me, physical gold is insurance, gold stocks are speculation, and the juniors are gamble. LOL

I don't think it's a good idea to ever devote everything to one thing, so I'm with you on that. Bullion holdings have done a lot better than stock PF in 2008 for sure. The reason why I made a large allocation there early on, is because governments have a solid track record of debasing fiat currencies and we have one seems determined to win the prize. Also, it's one of those rare assets that is not someone else's liability. Finally, it has a 5,000+ year track record as a store of value. That doesn't mean that it won't go up and down compared to particular measuring sticks, but the chances of it going to zero are, imo, nil. I look forward to the day when I don't feel like I need so much protection, but I am not sure it is coming anytime soon.
