The history of racism against blacks is clear. Poor white folks have grievances too but their "angry" pastor would probably couch the language in economic terms. Thats different from racism. In context Wright wasnt as bad as out of context. I dont doubt that i have serious differences with the man over a plethora of issues. My problem with obama is that he reacted with a great race speech after the fact. What he needed to do over time is have record of recording his disagreemnts with Wright as they occurred. If obama is who i think he is and if he ever was in church for one of these rants, he probably cringed inside while making excuses for black folks and justifying double standards. I might be doing a little of that here too but if i were barack and believe in inclusiveness i would have responded in real time.

>but would anyone do the same if it were a white pastor catering to the rage of "white trash"?

I'd be cool with that... as long as that was rage directed to the "powers that be" rather than people of a different color.
