I'd bet on ego....

I also heard that Wright was building a huge home in a lily white gated community....kind of at odds with his words...

I don't either. He says it to justify the racial resentment he and his congregation feels. I think Wright and Obama are very intelligent guys. I'd feel better about them morally if I thought they were ignorant enough to genuinely believe that stuff.

The Left doesn't care about truth as long as you have good intentions. Just look at the reaction to Al Gores An Inconvenient Truth. They don't care much about results either.

If Wright and other pastors like him are stirring up the passions of their flock every week with BS like we heard, then it is no wonder that some of the racial tensions exist. I know if I heard that "stuff" every week, that I'd be violently against the blacks....

He says it to justify the racial resentment he and his congregation feels.

Glenn Reynolds wonders whether Wright is trying to sabotage Obama too. And Kyle Bennett offers a motive:

HE'S BAAACK! Wright offering fresh fodder to Obama critics. If I didn't know better, I'd think Rev. Wright was trying to sabotage the Obama campaign.

UPDATE: Reader Kyle Bennett emails: "Why do you think you know better? What do you think would happen to Wright's raison d'etre should this country actually elect a black man as President?"

That comment, I'm sorry to say, reveals a shocking depth of cynicism. Which is not to say he's wrong . . . .
