SSB - I don't know for sure, but I suspect that hedgies have a way of getting around some or many of the restrictions that apply to mere mortals. Indexes catching a bounce here, but we'll see if it is a headfake or a turn...later.

I think Canadian regulations allow shorting of stocks priced at $1 or more. While they may be shorted, stocks from $1 to $3 have no margin value; a short therefore consumes its full price of "available margin".
