Mary -

If he doesn't understand retail politics, why has he won so many primaries? Why have 15 million people come out and voted for him?

Even in the primaries he has lost, he has always gotten very respectable vote totals.

People who eat chocolates, donuts, drink beer, and bowl can not be looked down on. You have to take what they do serously.

As much as we (and me more than most) love to razz politicians, I do feel badly for them sometimes.

We really do ask them to do the impossible.

I'm sure they'd rather be who they are than pretend to like the same things others do.

Although, I agree with you that they should at least show respect for others' food, games and customs.

But I don't equate rolling a low score with not taking seriously the people who participate in it.
