You can die waiting for treatment in the US as an insured person as well. Besides, insurance has a lifetime cap so be careful not to exceed that.

Cigna decided not to pay for a liver transplant, then reversed itself, but the 17-year-old patient died before she could undergo the procedure, the attorney for the patient's family said.

It is a fallacy that people only do things for money.

For profit companies are motivated to increase quarterly profit growth. In the case of insurance companies, that means denying whatever they can even if they are obligated to pay even if it means waiting out the patients and hoping they die or simply give up. The cost of Medicare overhead is much less than that of the for profit insurance industry.

It is a fallacy that private organizations are always more efficient than public ones.

Why do you think doctors spend up to a third of their time dealing with insurance companies?

No, doctors can still make a good living but they do not have to make an outsized living. If they want to become rich, they can go into business. Again, money is never the only motivator unless you are a truly shallow person.

No, you are simply looking at costs without looking at the benefits. That is why I suggested you stop eating as that will save you the cost of food. That may be too subtle a joke although I thought you would get that one.
