I can't imagine that that kind of thinking could be that bad- because anyone thinking ANYTHING about what is good for them, would be better than what we have now- which appears to involve zero thinking. I think once you start eating healthy, and you feel better, as most people do, then you might get more interested (I'm not suggesting everyone would). I think a concerted effort, involving schools, churches, the food stamp program, and other organizations that can reach the poor, could probably have an impact. I think paying adults to lose weight isn't a bad idea- since taking care of diabetics on the government dole is so damn expensive, and diabetes can go in to remission with weight loss and proper diet. I'd say we could pay everyone to lose weight- but I wouldn't want to see those few cases of parents starving their children to get extra money from the government, so we'll just have to make it adults who are compos mentis.
