I'm not sure how receptive California homeowners who are trying to struggle with an explosion in their property tax bills (because of all the deadbeat non-collections) are going to be about being forced by a policy initiative to pay top dollar to do things like build roads and bridges -- this crap where "only the closed union shops get to bid" that limits price competition and therefore drives up project costs and profits is a luxury from a bygone era that California can ill afford right now -- although they still might get cowed into making such a mistake
