I was replying to this line in your post.

"Can you name one country in which we have a base where we have stayed against the host country's government wishes?"

Gitmo is one case.

But, there is a more general problem of some of our bases are in places where the population as a whole don't want us there. Given that bin Laden gave our base in SA as the reason for 9/11, it is something that should be examined.
